The University of the Incarnate Word is seeking applicants for a full time, tenure track faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Feik School of Pharmacy. The expected practice site is a pharmacy run (PharmD) cardiology ambulatory clinic at the UT Health MARC Cardiology Clinic in San Antonio, Texas. Common disease states to be managed include heart failure, hypertension, dyslipidemia, atrial fibrillation, anticoagulation, and diabetes.
Essential responsibilities for this position include teaching in the didactic and experiential curriculum, providing a clinical pharmacy service to patients in the PharmD cardiology clinic, precepting pharmacy student/resident rotations, presentations, and research projects, service to the University, and scholarly activities. Official duties and responsibilities of tenure track faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics. Other duties as assigned.
The applicant should have considerable experience in the area of ambulatory care pharmacy and/or cardiology and have the ability to work with students, patients, multidisciplinary providers, and pharmacy staff to optimize patient care. Must possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employees shall adhere to all rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, the NCAA, and the practice site.
Applicants should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree with 2 years of postgraduate residency training in ambulatory care, cardiology, or pharmacotherapy (or equivalent experience). The ideal candidate will have experience as a faculty member in a school of pharmacy and clinical experience in ambulatory care or cardiology pharmacy. Board certification in pharmacotherapy or cardiology pharmacy is preferred.
Applicants must be a licensed pharmacist and eligible for licensure in the state of Texas. Applicants will be expected to become a certified preceptor with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Applicants must obtain and maintain credentialing with the practice site.
