The PGY1/PGY2/MS Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency program is designed to develop pharmacy leaders by providing the administrative and clinical skills necessary to lead a large health-system pharmacy or other healthcare organization in advancing patient care.
This 24-month program combines a Master of Science in Pharmacy Leadership and Administration from the University of Houston with a rigorous practice residency that includes numerous clinical experiences such as Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology, Drug Information, and other clinical electives. Administrative experiences include Community Hospital Management, Finance/Budgeting, Human Resources, Informatics, Operations Management, Regulatory Compliance, and Strategic Planning along with several administrative electives to choose from.
Training among a group of 50 clinical pharmacists, 13 management leaders, and 22 residents, the Health-System Pharmacy Administration resident will have ample teaching opportunities including providing instruction to doctor of pharmacy students. The resident will provide an ACPE-accredited CE program and can participate in an optional teaching certificate program through the University of Houston College of Pharmacy.
