As part of Stanford Medicine along with Stanford Health Care and Stanford School of Medicine, Packard Children’s affords residents a first-class setting for exposure to a wide variety of patients and offers numerous opportunities to foster their growth and development as independent practitioners.

As an academic and tertiary referral center that is nationally ranked and internationally recognized, our 461-bed hospital with 110 medical-surgical beds, 36 PICU, 36 CVICU, and 40 NICU beds, and a level I pediatric trauma designation offers a challenging and diverse caseload to our pharmacy residents.

The PGY1 and PGY2 combined program Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency Program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to contribute to the continued growth of clinical pharmacists by integrating clinical practice experiences with advanced leadership skills to improve the medication use process for patients. The residency places emphasis in competency areas including, but not limited to, patient-centered clinical services, safe medication-use systems, quality improvement initiatives, advanced leadership, use of technology, and management of pharmacy operations, financial resources and human resources. Residents completing a PGY2 residency in HSPA-L will begin to develop the foundation to assume high level managerial, supervisory, and leadership responsibilities as well as being eligible for board certification, if available.

Qualifications

• PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy
• California intern pharmacist license in good standing at time of hire
• Eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in California
