The PGY2 positions are accountable to complete practice-based educational goals with the objective of preparing clinical practice leaders in the area of the selected specialty.
PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy. Residents who successfully complete the PGY2 residency should possess competencies that qualify them for clinical pharmacist positions eligible for board certification in the specialized practice area and/or faculty positions.
The programs follow the specific goals and objectives outlined in the ASHP PGY2 standard.
EDUCATION: Required: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy and prior completion of a PGY1 ASHP accredited residency by July 2024.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTINGS: Required: The resident is required to have or obtain a license to practice pharmacy in the state of North Carolina within the first 30 days of their training program. A current American Heart Association (AHA), Basic Life Support (BLS) card for Health Care Provider is required.
