The PGY1/PGY2 combined Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency at UTMB Health is a two-year ASHP pre-candidate program designed to train pharmacists who are interested in becoming well-rounded practice managers and leaders in all areas of health-system pharmacy. Additionally, residents of the program will earn a Master of Science in Pharmacy Leadership and Administration (PLA) from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. To learn more about this portion of the HSPAL program, please visit the University of Houston College of Pharmacy PLA page. This program will enable residents to assume high-level pharmacy practice managerial, supervisory, and leadership responsibilities. It provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete the PGY2 HSPAL residency are prepared for management/supervisory roles in various health-system pharmacy practice areas.
