The PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency program at Baystate Medical Center offers a high-quality, in-depth learning environment in which pharmacists can build upon their PGY-1 pharmacy practice skills and develop accountability, practice patterns and habits, in addition to expert knowledge, skills, attitudes and abilities in the advanced area of Critical Care.
Training within our Level I Trauma Center with five adult and two pediatric intensive care units, focuses on developing your ability to manage a range of disease states and disorders in the critically ill patients. The program offers experiences in medical, surgical/trauma, neuro, cardiac, cardiothoracic surgery, and pediatric intensive care units with additional required learning experiences in the emergency department and elective rotation opportunities. The flexibility within the program allows for customization to accommodate your knowledge, skills, abilities, interests, and career goals.
You will graduate fully equipped to be a fully integrated member of a critical interdisciplinary team, able to make complex medication related decisions within the complex environment of the intensive care unit. All program graduates are expected to demonstrate competency in the areas of contemporary pharmacy practice, written and oral communication, teaching and clinical research. Graduates of the program can expect to be prepared for positions including, but not limited to, a pharmacist specializing in critical care pharmacotherapy, faculty at a college of pharmacy or medical science liaison.
Requirements for the position include the following:
Successful completion of PGY1 Residency and eligible for pharmacist licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Baystate Medical Center (BMC), in Springfield, Massachusetts, is an academic, research, and teaching hospital that serves as a training site of University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate. BMC is a 716-bed facility with 57 bassinets. It is the region's only Level 1 trauma center and pediatric trauma center. Baystate Medical Center is the flagship hospital in Baystate Health which is a four hospital health care system. The Baystate Health pharmacy residency programs are affiliated with MCPHS University- Worcester Campus and Western New England University.
We will be recruiting for PGY1 Resident in our PGY1/2 HSPAL Program, PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residents and PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Resident .
