Summary: The Pharmacy Coordinator is a member of the clinical pharmacy leadership team and is responsible for supervising the activities of the pharmacists in the assigned patient care areas, including Internal Medicine, Surgery and the Women’s Center, as well as maintaining a clinical practice within one of those areas (60% administrative/40% clinical staffing).
Responsibilities:
Provides clinical leadership and supervision for specified service lines including monitoring staffing needs and assuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained
Identifies and implements clinical pathways and/or operational process improvement initiatives to provide optimal care while minimizing cost
Creates and/or maintains policies and procedures specific to the practice area
Collaborates with other members of the leadership team to achieve departmental as well as health-system goals
Maintains responsibility of annual performance evaluations
Recruits and assists in hiring of new employees for the clinical pharmacy team
Provides oversight for scheduling of clinical pharmacists
Provides on-call support for the clinical team and staffs up to every fourth weekend
Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external partners
UNC Rex clinical pharmacy services provide decentralized, comprehensive and high-quality care for patients across all areas of Rex. The clinical pharmacy staff are comprised of almost 40 individuals who are involved in numerous quality improvement initiatives, precept students and residents and represent our patients’ best interests across the health system. The clinical pharmacy leadership team is comprised of a Director, Manager and three Pharmacy coordinators.

Completion of a Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) or equivalent in experience

Education Requirements: PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment.
Professional Experience Requirements: Two years of prior pharmacist experience or equivalent required.
