The PGY2 Oncology Residency Program is designed to develop the specialized knowledge, competency, and skill necessary to provide pharmacist care to patients with cancer. The resident will be actively involved in managing the therapeutic decisions and clinical outcomes of cancer patients in an interdisciplinary environment. The resident will participate in all aspects of oncology pharmacy practice pertaining to clinical practice and outcomes, research, and education. Required practice experiences include medical oncology, malignant hematology / stem cell transplant, pediatric oncology, ambulatory oncology clinic, and palliative care. The resident will also gain experience in clinical pharmacology research, as well as development of their teaching skills. The program’s goal is to prepare the resident for a clinical position in an established cancer center or to be able to design and implement an oncology pharmacy service in another practice setting.
