University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center’s PGY1/PGY2 combined Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPA-L) program builds upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and provides training for future leaders of our profession. This specialty residency program in administration and leadership is defined as directed postgraduate experiences which facilitates development of various professional skills and competencies in pharmacy leadership.

To obtain a completion certificate from the PGY1 program, the following must be completed by the end of your residency year:
Licensed pharmacist in the state of Ohio within the required timeframe
Greater than 90% of goals and objectives achieved for residency (ACHR)
No more than 5% of all objective evaluations can be needs improvement
Satisfactory completion of all assigned rotations
Research project completed
Must be presented at Ohio or Regional residency conference
Publishable manuscript of research project completed
Formulary drug monograph
Formal presentations including:
Pharmacy Grand Rounds
Two journal clubs
Two case presentations
Two topic discussions
Two patient reports
Complete medication use evaluation or improvement project
To obtain a completion certificate from the PGY2 program, the following must be completed by the end of your residency year:

No more than 5% of all objective evaluations can be needs improvement
Satisfactory completion of all assigned rotations
Thesis substitute research project completed
Must be presented at Ohio or Regional residency conference
Publishable manuscript of research project completed
Formal presentation at an appropriate conference
Four formal presentations including:
Pharmacy Grand Rounds
Facilitate one cost savings initiative
Prepare or revise at least one drug class review, monograph, or guideline
Complete one process improvement project
Facilitate at least one system pharmacy leadership meeting
Successful completion of the Master’s degree from UNC
