Texas Children's Hospital is the largest freestanding children’s hospital in the country and is located in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. We are recruiting for one PGY2-infectious diseases resident for our new, 12-month residency program.
The PGY2 program will be focused on direct patient care, practice management, and providing education. Residents will develop these skills through a comprehensive residency experience. Patient care learning experience are available in the following settings: infectious diseases clinical service, antimicrobial stewardship, microbiology lab/infection prevention, transplant infectious diseases. A general pediatrics learning experiences will be available to the incoming resident if needed. Elective rotations at Texas Children's Hospital or other hospitals in the medical center will be available pending preceptor availability and the resident’s interests. In addition to patient care, residents will gain experience in practice management through longitudinal learning experiences including: clinical administration, longitudinal quality initiatives, and formulary management. Each experience allows for the development of skills in the education of learners, healthcare providers, and patients. The program is tailored to meet the pre-defined program goals and objectives based on the resident interests and past experience. Residents provide staffing support to the infectious diseases and stewardship teams in a clinical role. Residents are expected to staff in this area every third weekend.
