Infusion Pharmacy Operations Supervisor
Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager
Provide oversight, direction, and leadership for pharmacy operations at a 600-bed academic teaching hospital and other campuses and clinical areas. Assigned areas may include, but are not limited to, clinical services, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, controlled substances distribution, OR satellite pharmacy, centralized automation/robotics, decentralized distribution, 340b compliance, billing integrity, and procurement. All responsibilities are accomplished in collaboration with the pharmacy leadership team under the direction of the Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs all pharmaceutical care and drug distribution duties required of Clinical Staff Pharmacist and Senior Clinical Staff Pharmacist personnel.
Supervises and manages the day-to-day operation of assigned pharmacy areas, including but not limited to procurement, drug dispensing and delivery, pharmaceutical waste, 340B oversight, inventory, and narcotic controls, record keeping, and maintenance of drug information reference materials.
Supervises, manages, orients, trains maintains performance evaluation standards, and evaluates all assigned professional and supportive personnel.
Holds staff accountable and identifies and deals with personnel issues in a proactive and timely manner, with appropriate follow-up to improve performance.
Makes recommendations for promotions, merit increases, and disciplinary action.
Prepares personnel work schedules and ensures adequate staffing when absences occur.
Coordinates the recruitment, interviewing, and final selection of qualified staff members.
Addresses problems while participating in various multidisciplinary teams and patient care committees.
Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures.
Ensures completion of monthly unit audits.
Identifies opportunities to redesign systems of oversight to maximize performance (e.g., labor and operational efficiency)
Identifies and develops business cases for operational services based on anticipated future needs, operational advancement, and organizational priorities.
Participates in the department’s strategic plan development and execution of assigned goals.
Prepares work measurement reports and makes budget recommendations to the Director and pharmacy leadership team.
Identifies appropriate internal controls for the department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
Serves as preceptor and/or advisor for pharmacy learners.
Rotates through the pharmacy on-call schedule.
Performs related duties as required.
Position 2: Pharmacy Informatics Specialist
In collaboration with Pharmacy Services and Information Services, the Clinical Informatics Specialist participates in the analysis, design, implementation, education, and support of medication-use applications and technologies (e.g., Epic Willow Inpatient, Epic Willow Ambulatory, Epic Willow Inventory, PACMed, Carousels, Robot, Pyxis ADS, Omnicell ADS, Infusion Pump System); determines business requirements, and user needs to develop solutions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Analyzes complex clinical, operational, and structure processes to facilitate decision-making regarding clinical information systems.
Participates in system analysis and research related to current and proposed clinical information systems.
Executes the planning, development, implementation, upgrading, maintenance, and evaluation of clinical information systems.
Accurately and promptly analyzes the impact of information technology operational processes and clinical impact to workflows for all provider types.
Communicates issues and topics with team members, pharmacy leadership, external stakeholders, and IS leadership.
Participates in interdisciplinary and process improvement teams to identify potential future uses of the information systems and potential improvements in the current use of the systems.
Coordinates and facilitates ongoing information system evaluation, including user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
Develops and implements action plans as needed to support user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
Participates in post-implementation change evaluation and supports users in maintaining changed processes.
Design processes and plans for measurement and evaluation of system installation, routine utilization, and/or enhancements.
Maintains information systems, including revisions, testing system changes, and integration of changes into the operational environment.
Participates in appropriate committees, work groups, or task forces as needed to facilitate the ongoing process of the design, implementation, and revision of automated and manual components of the clinical information systems.
Evaluate the impact the information systems have on user workflow and coordinate with users and Information Services to resolve conflicts between workflow and the information systems.
Maintains open and active communication with vendors. Facilitates communications between vendors, pharmacy operations, and clinical staff as needed.
Provides end-user support. This will include analyzing, identifying, and executing on issue resolutions in a timely manner. Communicates with end users both understanding of the issue and what issue resolution is possible. Collaborates with appropriate groups to resolve identified issues.
Develops, documents, and leads processes for multi-disciplinary end-user input regarding clinical systems and processes.
Maintains current knowledge of trends and advances in the fields of Pharmacy and Healthcare Informatics, as well as new developments in hardware and software technology, operating systems, applications, operational analysis, and protocols.
Maintains current knowledge of Pharmacy practices, regulatory standards, organizational policies and procedures related to clinical and operational practice, legal implications of the clinical information system, and organizational direction in order to support users and process teams.
Documents all processes needed to complete work in a manner that will facilitate knowledge sharing, efficient maintenance of systems, and training of new Informatics team. Willingness to develop, train, and support co-workers.

Three years of related experience
Eligible to obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of Texas.

Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1/2 health system pharmacy administration residency, equivalent fellowship training, or equivalent pharmacy management practice experience.
Current licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas.

Position 2: Pharmacy Informatics Specialist
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.
Required:
Two years of experience working with Epic systems supporting Epic Willow applications.
Proficient in Epic Willow Inpatient or Epic Willow Ambulatory.
Two years of acute care health system pharmacy practice experience.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and creativity skills to provide the support of complex software and hardware systems.
Eligible to obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of Texas.
Preferred:
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 pharmacy informatics residency, equivalent fellowship training, or equivalent informatics practice experience.
Current licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas.
Certified in one or more Epic medication-use applications: Epic Willow Inpatient, Epic Willow Ambulatory, Epic Willow Inventory, or Epic Beacon.
