The OHSU Pharmacy team is dedicated to helping providers and patients manage complex and cutting-edge medication therapies. OHSU Pharmacy staff work side by side with fellow healthcare providers creating an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Our goal is to provide world class medication management to the patients we serve.
This residency is a two-year program designed to provide concentrated training in clinical practice and the administration of health-system pharmacy. The resident will obtain advanced knowledge in clinical practice and expertise in pharmacy administration, management, and leadership activities.
Throughout the program, residents will actively participate in the following activities:
Complete core PGY1 program requirements while staffing every other weekend in a decentralized clinical service (with 1 compensation day off given after a weekend shift).
Develop skills in information technology, automation, and project management
Participate in medication safety programming and development
Build human resources skills by taking the pharmacy administrator on-call pager, managing the intern program and serving as Chief Resident
Precept Doctor of Pharmacy clerkship students and participate in their academic activities
Spend dedicated rotation time with senior management (Chief Pharmacy Officer and Chief Operating Officer) to understand their scope of influence and leadership strategies
Gain exposure to 340b contract and supply chain management, as well as, dedicated financial management activities including billing, budgeting, and reimbursement
Conduct both clinical and operational leadership activities within ambulatory, inpatient, outpatient operations, including PBM and specialty pharmacy services
Longitudinal participation in regulatory compliance, medication safety, and leadership activities.
Complete a two-year Master of Business Administration Degree (Residents who already have an MBA degree will be offered an alternative master's degree)
