The oncology residency is a one-year ASHP-accredited specialty residency that includes training in general hematology and oncology, blood and marrow transplantation, pediatric hematology/oncology, and a wide array of hematology/oncology ambulatory clinics. UK offers a variety of rotations and rotation structures to allow residents to customize their learning experience. These structures include longitudinal rotations, clinic block rotations, two-week rotations, and four-week rotations. The primary emphasis of the residency is placed on the development of clinical practice skills while delivering patient-focused care. Upon completion of the residency program are expected to demonstrate competency in the areas of contemporary pharmacy practice, written and oral communication, teaching, leadership, and clinical research.

A collaborative, comprehensive treatment approach is practiced throughout the center with the pharmacist serving as one of the cornerstones of the care team.
