PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Riverside is a 1059-bed non-profit, community tertiary care, teaching hospital within the multi-hospital OhioHealth system, which offers extensive and diverse learning opportunities in multiple critical care units with over 100 critical care beds. Specialties include two Medical Intensive Care Units (MICU1, MICU2), a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), a Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NCC), and a Cardiac and Cardiovascular ICU (CICU, CVICU). The 95-bed Emergency Department (Level II Trauma Center designation) has received over 81,000 emergency room visits last year alone. Residents will gain experience and develop in an innovative and expanding critical care environment. Residents will participate in direct emergent patient care experiences including cardiac arrest, ECLS, stroke alerts, sepsis alerts, rapid sequence intubation, level I and II trauma response, and STEMI alerts. In addition to the rigorous learning experiences and didactic curriculum, a required longitudinal leadership rotation provides opportunities for growth at both the site and system level within pharmacy and critical care. Residents may participate in precepting PGY-1 residents, and/or pharmacy students through the affiliation of several colleges of pharmacy. Diverse elective opportunities are available to tailor the program to the resident’s needs and vision. Other medical services and specialties available include bone marrow transplant and cancer care, heart and vascular, surgery, women’s health, behavioral health, orthopedics, gastroenterology/hepatology, and neonatal critical care. The program director and preceptors offer a depth of experience in critical care and are committed to providing an excellent learning experience to the resident.
