We provide clinical and administrative training for pharmacists suitable for entry into a patient care role as a clinical pharmacist and to sit for board certification. Required learning experiences include primary care, vulnerable populations (including uninsured, HIV clinic, and LGBTQ+ clinic), cardiology (including anticoagulation clinic), specialty pharmacy, value based care (i.e. population health), and system & practice management. Elective opportunities include oncology, transplant, geriatrics, medication safety, and more. Residents are also given the opportunity to develop and enhance their practice management and leadership skills through focused departmental responsibilities.
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
Completion or current enrollment in an ASHP-accredited or candidate-status PGY1 Pharmacy Residency program
Currently licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia (candidates must be licensed in the state of Virginia as pharmacists by July 1 of the incoming residency year)
