The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has several dynamic opportunities in both our inpatient and outpatient settings for oncology clinical pharmacy specialists. Our inpatient opportunities are embedded in our Cellular Therapy and Hematologic Malignancy services. Our ambulatory team is looking for specialists to support our thoracic and leukemia clinics. The specialists are responsible for provision of pharmaceutical care to patients in their respective area. The pharmacy specialist activities will include participation in rounds when applicable; partner with ambulatory care team with a focus on oral chemotherapy; monitor and modify drug therapy; provide recommendations to optimize patient outcomes, research, education of interdisciplinary staff, minimize safety issues; provision of patients and family counseling and insure cost effectiveness. These pharmacists should be effective communicators and be able to integrate themselves within the health team and current structure of the pharmacy department. Additionally, any candidate should coordinate pharmacotherapy activities of department pharmacists and act as mentors and preceptors of the residents associated with these services. Finally, the candidate should fulfill requirements associated with hospital and department policies and procedures.
