Memorial’s commitment to residency training started in 2006 at Memorial Regional Hospital. Over the past 15+ years, residency positions have been added to all 6 acute care facilities and specialty areas including Ambulatory Care and Memorial Cancer Institute. There are over 100 pharmacy residency graduates practicing Memorial’s brand of “Excellence with Caring” in various positions across the nation.
Critical Care
1 position
The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program is a 12-month program at our flagship facility has been designed to educate and develop pharmacists in a series of clinical specialty experiences within critical care. Our program exposes trainees to medical, surgical, trauma, neuroscience and cardiac intensive care multidisciplinary family-centered practice settings, as well as emergency medicine, toxicology and infectious diseases. The resident will also have the opportunity to participate in stroke response, code blue response team and will gain experience in professional development and research.
Emergency Medicine
1 position
The PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency Program is a 12-month program at our flagship Level 1 Trauma Center that builds on both the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency training. As one of the largest hospitals in Florida, our 100 bed Emergency Department (ED) provides family-focused, emergency room care for an assortment of illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions. In addition, Memorial Regional’s ED Pharmacy team provides 24-hour clinical services and medication management to an ever growing department. This program exposes residents to a wide variety of experiences which include participation in interdisciplinary health care teams, toxidrome emergencies, stroke alerts, code blue, trauma alerts, and emergency preparedness.
Psychiatry
1 position
The PGY2 Psychiatry Pharmacy Residency Program is a 12-month program which provides residents with the in-depth knowledge and clinical practice experience to function independently to formulate a comprehensive, integrated approach to medication-related issues geared to improve the clinical effectiveness of psychiatric patient care. In addition, the program will prepare residents to identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related problems, participate as active members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrate leadership skills, and provide targeted education to healthcare providers, patients, and community members. This program will allow residents the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patient populations in various treatment settings including but not limited to: adult and pediatric inpatient psychiatric units, an adult outpatient behavioral health clinic, an adult psychiatric emergency department, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic, Long Acting Therapy (LAT) clinic, and esketamine clinic.
