AdventHealth Orlando is currently seeking ambitious and committed individuals for the 2025-2026 PGY-2 Critical Care Residency.
During the PGY-2 year, the resident will learn to excel in clinical practice, clinical leadership, and operational services and be allowed to function as the ideal pharmacist generalist (clinician and leader) and be confident in providing evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management with interdisciplinary teams. The resident works collaboratively with Critical Care Pharmacists, leads process improvement projects, provides patient care in collaborative practice settings, and works as a member of medical staff committees. The longitudinal structure of projects develops competence in leadership and practice management responsibilities.
The primary goal of the PGY-2 Critical Care program is to develop residents into independent practitioners and confident pharmacy leaders who possess in-depth therapeutic knowledge and integrated professional attributes. The resident’s experiences are tailored to meet his/her individual goals and expectations.
Comprehensive pharmaceutical care is incorporated throughout the residency via professional and operational practice, pharmacy practice management, interdisciplinary teamwork, drug policy development, process improvement, and self-evaluation. Rotations are offered in a variety of areas and may be tailored to the interests of the individual resident. Core patient care rotations include Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Multi-system ICU, Neuro ICU, and Emergency Department. Elective rotations are offered in a variety of other critical care settings to develop independent practice skills. Rotations are available with specialty services such as Pulmonary Hypertension, heart/lung/kidney/liver transplant and ECMO.
Activities include: a research project suitable for publication and presentation at a professional meeting, medication use evaluation, and order set or policy, and an ACPE-accredited CE seminar presentation. Additional program goals include development of skills in clinical and didactic teaching, knowledge of clinical research methodology, and confidence in professional leadership. The program affords an interactive environment allowing residents to facilitate internal and external small group discussions, precept pharmacy student experiences, and present formal lectures which allow residents to learn innovative teaching methodologies and mentoring techniques from experienced faculty. A variety of practice based research opportunities exist as residents complete an independent research project and are exposed to ground-breaking investigator-initiated as well as industry sponsored protocols.

Special Requirements for Acceptance: Complete PhORCAS application; 3 references utilizing standard form in PhORCAS with narrative comment section completed or supplemental letter of recommendation; eligibility for licensure in Florida.
