Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, TX is currently recruiting for TWO full-time, day shift (rotating weekends), decentralized abdominal transplant pharmacist positions - ONE abdominal transplant positions at the Specialty and Transplant (MHST) campus and ONE cardiothoracic transplant position at the flagship Methodist Hospital (MH).  We are also recruiting for a Behavioral Health clinical pharmacist specialist for a full-time, day shift (rotating weekends), decentralized positions at the MHST campus.  

The transplant pharmacist positions would join our pharmacy team and have a primary assignment working on our transplant care unit and rotating to our hospital based transplant clinic.  In 2025, MHST is also planning to open an additional 16 bed ICU that will primarily service transplant patients. 

The behavioral health pharmacist position would join our pharmacy team and have a primary assignment working on our behavioral health inpatient units.

Opportunities also include precepting pharmacy students from two colleges of pharmacy (UT Austin, UIW), and involvement in various transplant quality initiatives. 

Specialty and Transplant Hospital is a 350 bed acute care facility with specialty service lines including behavioral health and solid organ transplant.  The average daily census is 220 patients.  Our transplant center performs liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants in the adult population.  Since opening the transplant program in 1984, the program has performed close to 7,000 kidney, kidney/pancreas transplants and over 800 liver transplants with recognition as being one of the largest living donor kidney transplant programs in the country.  Our behavioral health services include caring for our adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of conditions such as: mood disorders, suicidal behavior, psychotic thinking, schizophrenia, PTSD, other psych diagnosis with secondary chemical dependence and psychiatric emergency services.

What qualifications you will need:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Advanced Clinical Pharmacist (in a specific area of focus) or at least 5 years of general hospital pharmacy experience required; preferably within area of focus OR completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency or fellowship
• AND BCPS certification or other Board of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) certification (or planned certification within 12-18 months)
• ONE of the following is required prior to the first day of employment: Current Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or Licensed pharmacist in another state: Provide proof of the Authorization to Test (ATT) from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
