The Virginia Commonwealth University Health System (VCUHS) PGY2 Psychiatric Residency provides clinical practice opportunities at VCU Health and psychiatry practice sites of VCU Medical Center. Inpatient experiences are with the Affective Disorders, Schizophrenia, Medical Psychiatry, Childhood/Adolescent Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, and Neurology services. Elective experiences are available in Substance Abuse, Toxicology and other acute care services. Ambulatory experiences are available with psychiatry, geriatric/medical home, substance abuse and pain clinics. The resident participates in the didactic and APPE teaching of Doctor of Pharmacy students at VCU School of Pharmacy. The program provides experiences in clinical research through a project and participation in ongoing research activities.

Applicants must be Doctor of Pharmacy graduates from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy; have completed an accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency; be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in Virginia; and possess requisite patient care training or experience. The successful applicant must possess exceptional knowledge, clinical problem solving, communication skills, and leadership qualities.
