The PGY2 Critical Care pharmacy residency is a 12-month, full-time training program. This specialty program builds upon the PGY1 pharmacy residency in that it provides a well-rounded experience leading to the development of expert knowledge, skills, and leadership of the resident in specialized areas of critical care practice.
The resident will be provided with opportunities to function independently as a practitioner by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Graduates will be prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification
PGY2 Informatics
The PGY2 informatics pharmacy residency is a full-time training program designed to build on experiences gained in the PGY1 year and to provide a well-rounded experience leading to the development in expert knowledge, skills, and leadership in the practice of pharmacy informatics. The program consists of intensive training and learning experiences in all aspects of the electronic medical record (EMR), computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system, clinical decision support, pharmacy automation, clinical automation, and other standards and best practices in the healthcare environment. Residents will train to manage the evolution of the medication use system by applying pharmacy informatics principles, standards, and best practices. The program allows the residents to train and develop competencies at an enterprise scale, focusing on the implementation, maintenance, and application of pharmacy technology and automation. Graduates will be specialized in the practical application of pharmacy technology and automation and be able to support hospital and pharmacy processes while ultimately contributing to patient care enhancement.
The resident will be a member of the pharmacy informatics team and train with clinical pharmacists, information technology (IT) staff, and clinical informaticists. The resident will participate in all aspects of maintenance and building of pharmacy automation systems as well as reporting and data analysis.

PGY2 Requirements:
Graduation from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy.
Current or eligible for New York State Pharmacist licensure.
Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program.
