Kern Medical is proud to be a tertiary referral center, academic teaching institution, and safety net hospital with multiple ambulatory care locations offering primary and specialty care.
Mission:
Guided by the needs of our patients and their families, Kern Medical will deliver safe, compassionate, high quality care, and improve the health and well-being of our community.
PGY2 Residency:
The PGY2 residency in ambulatory care pharmacy is designed to transition PGY1 residency graduates from generalist practitioners into specialists in the ambulatory environment. The PGY2 Program at Kern Medical is designed with the goal of providing broad experiences in high demand areas to better prepare the resident for ambulatory care jobs upon successful completion of the program. Residents will practice independently with a high scope of practice in varied settings. Learning experiences will be longitudinal to better help the resident provide continuity of care with the patients. There will be flexibility in the schedule in the second half of the program based on resident interests and needs of the program.
There is an optional teaching certificate program. Residents will be expected to be heavily involved in precepting PGY1 students on their ambulatory learning experiences. Other teaching opportunities include a lecture at the local university’s Nurse Practitioner Program, student topic discussions, educational presentations for various levels of interdisciplinary staff, and possibly more based on interest.
