Rotational experiences include cardiac ICU, cardiothoracic ICU, emergency medicine, medical ICU, surgical ICU, neurocritical care, multiple interdisciplinary educational opportunities, critical care-related committee involvement, and completion of a critical care-related research project with strong mentorship from clinician researchers.
Rotational experiences include inpatient pharmacotherapy management of acute infectious diseases, microbiology, hospital/institutional epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship activities/committees/initiatives, educational opportunities to fellow pharmacists and other healthcare providers, and completion of an infectious diseases-related research project. Additionally, residents will have the opportunity to gain experience in the management of outpatient infectious diseases such as HIV and HCV.
Graduation from an ASHP Accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
The MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland (MHMMCP) Pharmacy Residency program has a rich history of high-quality teaching programs. We have a total of nine residents each year and over 55 preceptors across our two PGY1 and four PGY2 programs. MHMMCP offers a traditional PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and a Community-Based PGY1 Residency. Our institution offers PGY2 Residencies in Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, and Oncology. The PGY1 and PGY2 Pharmacy Residency programs at MHMMCP provide residents with strong foundational skills required to become high-performing clinicians. MaineHealth Maine Medical Center is a multi-campus medical center with locations in Portland, Biddeford, and Sanford. With a total of 929 licensed beds across all locations, residents are exposed to a diverse patient demographic with a broad range of pathology. Our goal is to develop competent and compassionate clinicians who are prepared for direct patient care responsibilities, educating, conducting research, and continued post-graduate education.
