The PGY1 Pharmacy and PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency at Parkland is an organized, directed, postgraduate training program centered on the development of knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to lead the profession of pharmacy into the future. It is two consecutive 12 month training programs designed to comply with standards established by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) for both PGY1 Pharmacy and PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residencies. The two residency programs typically begin the last Monday in June and runs for 104 weeks/2 years/24 months.

The combined PGY1 & PYG2 Health System Residency combined with a MBA program is designed to prepare the resident for future leadership roles in a large health system environment.

PGY1 learning experiences: Orientation, Decentral Clinical Pharmacist Training, Internal Medicine, Critical Care - ICU, Infectious Disease, Medication Safety, Formulary Management, Administration, Ambulatory Care, Infectious Disease, and 2 electives

PGY2 learning experiences: Acute Care/Inpatient Operations, Ambulatory/Specialty Operations, Sterile Compounding Operations, Pharmacy Leadership, Pharmacy Informatics, Revenue Cycle, Procurement, & Patient Assistance Programs, Interim Manager, and potential external elective option at Apexus (interview/selection process) and Vizient (selection process).

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Eligible for pharmacist licensure in Texas
• Eligible for upcoming graduation from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. To graduate by time of residency start.
• Cumulative pharmacy school GPA of > 3.1 including results of most recent term
