UF Health Jacksonville is a 791 bed academic medical center located in Jacksonville, Florida. UF Health Jacksonville has long been a leader in emergency medicine, critical care practice, and ambulatory care practice in Northeast Florida. We have over 100 ICU beds with interdisciplinary practices in medical, surgical, trauma, cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, neonatal and pediatric intensive care. Our Emergency Department is one of the Top 10 busiest in the nation with experience in a variety of emergency medicine settings including intensive care, pediatrics, intermediate care, resus, and trauma. Our Medication Use and Safety division and involvement in a variety of hospital committees allows residents to develop a mastery of knowledge and an expert level of competency in medication use policy, medication and patient safety, literature evaluation and informatics. Our extensive ambulatory care clinic practice offers experiences in primary care clinics and specialty clinics (e.g. Anticoagulation, Pain Management, Diabetes, Hypertension, GI, Hepatology, Renal/Dialysis, Cardiology, Neurology, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Rheumatology). Our pharmacists play an active role in patient care, clinical research, patient safety initiatives, resident and student training, as well as medication use evaluation.
We are also home to one of the 3 Poison Centers in Florida. The Florida Poison Information Center/Jacksonville has a 24 month Clinical Toxicology/Emergency Medicine Fellowship program. This program will educate and provide practical experiential training for the fellow in aspects of emergency medicine, adult and pediatric care, clinical toxicology, and poison information. The fellow will develop expertise in diagnostic procedures, triage, initial and subsequent therapeutic management, and monitoring of the acutely ill patient; with emphasis on human toxic exposures. The curriculum will prepare the fellow for successful completion of the American Board of Applied Toxicology certification exam. A PGY1 residency is not required.
