MU Health Care is seeking Clinical Pharmacist Specialists in Psychiatry and Cardiology to join our dynamic and expanding pharmacy team. These roles offer an exciting opportunity to practice in a collaborative, academic health system dedicated to advancing innovative, evidence-based care. The specialists will serve as clinical resources for their respective service lines, support pharmacy education initiatives, and contribute to departmental quality improvement and research efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds to identify and resolve medication-related issues. Conduct daily medication use evaluations for assigned patients, providing individualized recommendations that ensure safe, effective, and cost-conscious pharmacotherapy.
Demonstrate proficiency in reviewing and verifying medication orders for appropriateness by utilizing clinical information within the electronic medical record. Prioritize verification based on patient acuity and order urgency (e.g., STAT, NOW, routine).
Contribute to the education and professional development of pharmacy students, residents, and technicians through mentorship, clinical instruction, and engagement in daily practice activities.
Lead and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical protocols and guidelines to optimize medication utilization, improve outcomes, and enhance cost-effectiveness.
Actively participate in multidisciplinary committees, quality improvement projects, research initiatives, formulary management, and educational activities such as presentations and in-services.
Serve as a pharmacotherapy resource for pharmacists, prescribers, and nursing staff by providing evidence-based recommendations, critically analyzing current literature, and collaborating with providers to ensure optimal medication management.

Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited program.
Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is required.
Completion of a PGY2 Residency or equivalent clinical experience strongly preferred.
Board Certification or eligibility within 1 year of hire preferred.
Current pharmacist license (or eligibility) in the state of Missouri.
