The combined PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership resident will have the opportunity to participate in organizational leadership in an academic teaching environment. The mission of Rush is to improve the health of the individuals and diverse communities we serve. 

As a PGY1, the pharmacy resident will complete the requirements of the PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Rush University Medical Center. Experiences are tailored to the individual resident's background and interests. Required rotations include Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, Practice Management, Clinical Management, Critical Care (MICU, NSICU, or SICU), Immunology (Hematology/Oncology or Solid Organ Transplant), and Pediatrics. A 24 hour in house on-call program provides the resident with unique and challenging experiences overnight.

As a PGY2, the pharmacy resident will be exposed to a variety of practice areas including Clinical Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy Operations, Medication Safety, and Pharmacy Leadership. The resident will also engage in a number of longitudinal experiences including leading and coordinating the pharmacy internship program, leading and coordinating pharmacy residency recruitment, precepting residents and students and working as the pharmacy administrator on call. The residency program will be tailored to meet the unique goals of the resident while providing a well-rounded experience. The PGY2 resident will rotate alongside other pharmacy leaders in covering the pharmacy administrator on call (PAOC) pager Monday-Friday. Responsibilities during PAOC include, but are not limited to, participating in Hospital Incident Command, reviewing non-formulary medication requests, managing operational/staffing efficiencies and regulatory monitoring.
