The Nebraska Medicine PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency program is excited to recruit for the 2026-2027 residency year! This program will start on 7/1/2026.
Nebraska Medicine has a rich tradition and commitment to advancing our profession through the training and education of pharmacy residents as future leaders dating back to 1974! Utilizing our ITEACH values, we strive to evolve our program and provide the best training environment possible. We are excited to offer an internal medicine residency program to meet the growing need for specialists in this area. The resident in this program will join nine PGY1 residents and nine PGY2 residents. We are genuinely vested in the success of each resident and our unique family atmosphere contributes to the professional and personal development of all residents. This dynamic 52-week program is designed to prepare each resident to enter a position as an effective and efficient internal medicine pharmacist for a health-system or a clinical faculty member at a college of pharmacy.
Core rotations include Orientation, Anticoagulation and Pain Stewardship, Diabetes Stewardship, General Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship, Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine I & II and Surgical Services. Longitudinal experiences include Medication Use and Drug Policy, Patient Care Staffing, Pharmacy Management, Research, and Teaching/Pharmacy Grand Rounds. Numerous elective rotations are offered and tailored to meet the resident's individual goals and interests. Residents are required to complete a major research project and have the opportunity to teach and precept UNMC pharmacy students and Nebraska Medicine PGY1 residents throughout the year.
Resident applicants shall be graduates or candidates for graduation from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program (or one in process of pursuing accreditation).
Resident applicants for Nebraska Medicine PGY2 residency programs must be completing or have completed an ASHP-accredited or candidate status PGY1 pharmacy residency program.
Resident applicants must be licensed or will be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Nebraska by the start of the residency program.
Applicants shall participate and adhere to all rules of the ASHP Resident Matching Program process.
