Internal Medicine (IM) Residency Special Features: The PGY2 Internal Medicine residency program at Boston Medical Center program offers specialized training focusing in the care of internal medicine patients, including subspecialty services, while building upon foundational skills developed during PGY1 residency training. The residency is a tailored, comprehensive program that emphasizes the development of advanced pharmaceutical care skills in the area of internal medicine. Residents will have the opportunity to rotate through various internal medicine pharmacy services including, but not limited to, general internal medicine, sub-specialty internal medicine (Cardiology, Renal, Neurology, Geriatrics), internal medicine precepting, antimicrobial stewardship/ID consultation, and medical intensive care unit. Longitudinal projects focus on clinical research or quality improvement based on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement model. Upon completion of the program at Boston Medical Center, the resident will have achieved a level of expertise in internal medicine pharmacotherapy to function as an independent clinical specialist or educator in the area of internal medicine.

Infectious Diseases (ID) Residency Special Features (Main Campus): The PGY2 Infectious Diseases residency program at Boston Medical Center (BMC) - Main Campus provides a structured education and training experience for pharmacists looking to develop clinical expertise in infectious disease pharmacotherapy and antibiotic management. The residency is a tailored, comprehensive program that emphasizes the development of advanced pharmaceutical care skills in the area of infectious diseases, including antibiotic stewardship and inpatient/outpatient HIV pharmacotherapy. Residents will have the opportunity to rotate through various infectious diseases pharmacy services including, but not limited to, antimicrobial stewardship, ID medicine service, ID consult, outpatient HIV clinic, antimicrobial transitions of care, and micro lab. Throughout the residency year, the PGY2 ID resident becomes an integral member of the ID team and gains experience and competence to function as an independent ID clinical pharmacy specialist. Additionally, the resident will gain experience co-precepting PGY1 residents and pharmacy students, giving lectures in didactic settings, providing education to patients and health-care providers, and leading a year-long quality improvement or research project that will directly impact patient care within the institution. Upon completion of the program at Boston Medical Center - Main Campus, the resident will have achieved a level of expertise in infectious diseases to function as an independent clinical specialist or educator in the field.

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
Certificate from PGY1 program (or equivalent)
Eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on July 1st
U.S. citizenship or carry a U.S. permanent resident visa ("green card")

All applicants to ASHP-accredited pharmacy residencies must participate in the Match process sponsored by the National Matching Service (NMS). Applicants to our programs must register with NMS to obtain a match number. Information about applications and deadlines for the Match can be found on the NMS website.
