Ambulatory Care Residency Special Features: Boston Medical Center’s PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency is designed to prepare the resident to be a skilled practitioner that is able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. The resident will have a longitudinal exposure to primary care, within our Family Medicine or General Internal Medicine clinics, and anticoagulation. Additional opportunities are available for exposure to specialty clinics (i.e. Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Endocrinology, Renal Transplant, Women's Health, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Hematology/Oncology and Value Based Care). The resident will refine skills to manage complex chronic medical conditions as the population Boston Medical Center provides care for is one that is underserved. Residents participate in managing the anticoagulation pager every 3rd weekend. Longitudinal projects focus on quality improvement based on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement model.

PGY1/2 HSPAL + MS Residency Special Features: Boston Medical Center’s PGY-1/2 HSPAL Residency in collaboration with the University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is designed to cultivate the next generation of pharmacy leaders, preparing residents for advanced managerial and leadership roles within pharmacy and healthcare systems. Residents will undertake longitudinal coursework towards a MS degree with a concentration on Pharmaceutical Leadership, delivered through online classes at UNC. Learning from some of the best programs in the region, the resident will develop relevant clinical pharmacy competencies and work on pharmacy and health-system corporate/business strategy initiatives.?Graduates of this HSPAL program will be equipped to take on high-level management and supervisory roles in various healthcare settings, with a solid foundation in both clinical and operational leadership. This dual focus ensures that residents are well-prepared to drive innovations in pharmacy practice and contribute to the advancement of the profession.

Requirements for Acceptance
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
Certificate from PGY1 program (or equivalent) for PGY2 Ambulatory Care Program
Eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on July 1st
U.S. citizenship or carry a U.S. permanent resident visa ("green card")

BMC Pharmacy Residency candidates should complete an electronic residency application using the ASHP PhORCAS centralized application system. The following materials must be received through PhORCAS by January 2nd, at 11:59 PM EST.

Verified PharmD transcripts (issued directly from the institution or authorized third party; for PGY2 candidates, should include the date the PharmD degree was conferred)
Letter of intent (including goals)

Three completed standardized reference forms
For the HSPAL Residency, at least one reference form must be from a clinical rotation preceptor
Mandatory writing sample: writing sample should be uploaded as part of the application in PhORCAS in the supplemental sections. Please answer the following question (word limit of 500 words or less):

In addition to all the above requirements, the HSPAL resident must also apply to the University of North Carolina Graduate School for their didactic component. Deadline for application is January 2nd, 2026.
