The resident will receive 22 days discretionary time off (DTO) - including vacation, sick days, and holidays. Educational leave and reimbursement for registration/travel/lodging is provided for the Midyear Clinical Meeting, the Southeastern Residency Conference, and the South Carolina Society of Health System Pharmacy (SCSHP) fall and annual meetings. The resident will be offered medical, dental, and vision insurance. Additionally, the resident will receive a monthly meal allowance in the cafeteria (up to $300 per month and any overage charged at an employee discount rate), complimentary parking, a furnished coat, and membership dues paid to ASHP and SCSHP.

Prisma Health Richland Hospital, the primary site for pharmacy residency training, is one of the campuses in the Midlands region. It is a 641-bed not for profit regional teaching medical center in the capital city of Columbia, SC. The hospital provides a wide range of health care services including an emergency services and a Level I trauma center, critical care, cardiology, a Level III NICU, neurology (including a neuroscience intensive care unit), infectious diseases, nephrology, pulmonology, hematology, oncology, gastroenterology, nutrition, endocrinology and surgery. Prisma Health–Midlands as an affiliate with University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy and School of Medicine offers 28 accredited residency and fellowship programs in addition to our eight pharmacy residency programs.
This PGY2 residency is designed to transition PGY1 residency graduates from a general practitioner to one in a specialized in Internal Medicine. Graduates of this PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Residency will be able to make complex evidence-based medication recommendations and support their future institution through committee involvement as a subject matter expert in internal medicine. They will have gained experience in a variety of disease states with a strong focus on anticoagulation, diabetes and insulin management, antibiotic stewardship, respiratory diseases and transitions of care. Graduates will be experienced in short-term research in one or more care environments and will excel in their ability to teach other health professionals and trainees.

Interested candidates must have a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy (PharmD), have completedor currently be completing an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)-accredited PGY1 residency program and be eligible for or have current licensure in South Carolina. The South Carolina MPJE must be passed by July 1 prior to starting residency so that the resident can attend the July S.C. Board of Pharmacy meeting for license reciprocation
