Our team of Clinical Oncology Pharmacists at ECU Health work with providers, fellows and APPs to give care to each patient. Pharmacist are committed to the safe and effective use of medications through maximizing drug distribution and optimizing drug therapy outcomes; educating patients, providers, students and ourselves on best practice. Pharmacist will work in both clinical and operational settings; fully integrating pharmacists into the continuum of care.
Job Summary
ECU Health Inpatient Clinical Oncology Pharmacist will work at the Cancer Center in Greenville. Center. This is a full-time, day shift position working 8-hour shifts, primarily on Monday through Friday. This position will provide an expert level of consultation, guidance, and direction for appropriate hematology and oncology-affiliated medication use for inpatient hematology/oncology patients. This position collaborates with the oncology team to deliver a wide variety of services to patients, including education, aiding with chemotherapy order writing, monitoring adverse events, evaluating drug-drug and drug-disease interactions, and providing supportive care.
As the Inpatient Clinical Oncology Pharmacist, you will be responsible for:
Managing the medication use process to improve workflow, quality, and safety for patients and staff.
Providing safe, evidence-based, cost effective, and patient centered medication management.
Optimizing patient outcomes by collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement patient-specific treatment plans, monitor therapy outcomes, and make appropriate recommendations for adjustments or interventions as needed.
Performing medication order review, clarification, and verification assessing for completeness and appropriateness. Provides chemotherapy double checks (dosing calculations, identifying drug interactions, etc.) as necessary.
Providing clinical pharmaceutical care to optimize drug therapy for patients through the recommendation, implementation, monitoring, pharmacokinetics monitoring, and modification of individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Actively participating in multidisciplinary patient care planning meetings and working with the healthcare team on transition of care
Providing clinical pharmacy support to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other staff when caring for hospitalized patients
Performing patient and caregiver education and counseling regarding medication therapy and compliance.
Developing and providing medication related information and education for pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other healthcare personnel
Precepting pharmacy students, residents, and others in training.
Providing leadership for developing, implementing, and maintaining medication-related guidelines, policies, and standards.
Leading and participating in interdisciplinary institutional committees, including protocol and treatment plan development.
Communicating and coordinating current patient issues and therapy recommendations with pharmacy staff.
Contributing to institutional and collaborative research and scholarly activities.
Keeping abreast of changing protocols and clinical pharmacy standards.
PharmD in Pharmacy; PGY1 Pharmacy Residency; PGY2 in Oncology Preferred
Must be licensed in North Carolina prior to start date or within 30 days of hire
BLS Certification
Maintains active NC Pharmacy License and provides proof licensure annually
