Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is a 763-bed academic medical center affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. As an academic facility with a Level I trauma center, this tertiary care institution has numerous post-graduate training programs, including multiple medical and surgical residencies and fellowships. The newly constructed Crystal Spring Tower houses our Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) as well as an expanded Emergency Department. CRMH supports several pharmacy residency programs including PGY1 and PGY2s in Infectious Diseases, Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Ambulatory Care as well as a combined PGY1/2 HSPAL program.
Carilion Medical Center (CMC) is comprised of CRMH (described above) and Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital (CRCH). CRCH is home to Carilion's Inpatient Rehabilitation facility which is a highly specialized care unit for patients following an accident or illness who need intensive therapy before they can leave the hospital. Other services offered at CRCH include a wound healing center, endoscopy services, outpatient surgery, Carilion Children's dental care and an occupational medicine practice. A community hospital pharmacy operates Monday through Friday at CRCH with CRMH providing pharmacy support as needed during the evenings and weekends.
The Pharmacy Manager will provide supervision, direction and coordination of the distributive and scheduling functions and workflows for CMC Pharmacy staff. Work with other departments to coordinate the provision and monitoring of pharmaceutical services. The manager may, at times, be required to perform the Clinical Staff Pharmacist duties and must meet all requirements of a basic Pharmacist position. All pharmacists work throughout the Carilion Health System to provide Pharmaceutical Care (The direct, responsible provision of medication-related care for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life.) to all patients.
Pharmacy Operations Manager and PIC responsibilities for Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital (CRCH). Will work closely with Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) Pharmacy Admin team. Position will have direct reports that may include staff that work at both CRMH and CRCH due to the nature of staffing that location.
Pharmacists work to support the vision of the Department of Pharmacy which is “Optimizing patient outcomes through integrated delivery of quality pharmaceutical care" and the mission of the institution. To provide supervision, direction and coordination of the functions and workflows for the staff. Work with other departments to coordinate the provision and monitoring of pharmaceutical services.
Education/Experience: The Pharmacist must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). An advance degree or ASHP accredited residency is preferred but not required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensure to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Eligibility and completion of reciprocity for licensure in the state of Virginia within 90 days of hire.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be knowledgeable in the basic aspects of institutional pharmacy practice and the detailed and multi-faceted aspects of the position. Must possess good leadership, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills. Work requires knowledge of general office equipment and procedures including computer and keyboarding skills. All pharmacists must complete an Orientation Competency.
