Pharmacy Manager

UVA Specialty Pharmacy Manager of Operations 

Pharmacy Managers support the mission of UVA Health by overseeing the daily operation of the pharmacy in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as The Joint Commission, Medical Center and departmental guidelines. They perform and monitor pharmacy services in compliance with state and federal laws including personnel and processes.

Support planning for UVA Health Central Pharmacy Services opening March 2026 
Support and Develop team members in their professional growth 
Oversee daily operations and ensure patients are served with excellence. 
 

Job Description 

• Oversees daily pharmacy operations. 

• Complete essential human resource functions associated with staff supervision and team leadership. 

• Performs and monitors drug distribution procedures in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations as well as The Joint Commission, Medical Center and departmental policies, and all applicable regulatory bodies. 

• Serves as the team leader to provide leadership in the delivery of pharmacy services. 

• Supports educational mission through training of pharmacy residents, students, and pharmacy technician trainees and continuous professional growth. 

• Enhances the quality of delivery of care. 

• In addition to the above duties, additional duties may be assigned. 
   

Application Requirements: 

• Education: Pharmacy degree (B.S. and/or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy required. Master's degree preferred. 

• Experience: 1 year of experience required, management experience preferred. Specialized residency training in pharmacy administration will be considered in lieu of experience. 

• Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License required. 

Pharmacy Manager – Perioperative Services and Controlled Substances 
Overseeing the daily operation of perioperative services and controlled substances practices in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as The Joint Commission, Medical Center and departmental guidelines. Performs and monitors pharmacy services in compliance with state and federal laws including personnel and processes. Direct oversight on compliance and drug diversion efforts for the Medical Center in conjunction with Pharmacy Operations Leadership and Pharmacy Diversion Surveillance Technician. 

• Oversees daily pharmacy operation as it relates to controlled substances management. 

• Complete essential human resource functions associated with staff supervision and team leadership. 

• Performs and monitors drug distribution procedures in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations as well as The Joint Commission, Medical Center and departmental policies, and all applicable regulatory bodies. 

• Serves as the team leader to provide leadership in the delivery of pharmacy services and controlled substances management. 

• Supports educational mission through training of pharmacy residents, students, and pharmacy technician trainees and continuous professional growth. 

• Enhances the quality of delivery of care. 

• In addition to the above duties, additional duties may be assigned.

  Pharmacy Manager – Evening and Nightshift Operations (7 on/7 off schedule)

Overseeing the daily operation of inpatient pharmacy in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as The Joint Commission, Medical Center and departmental guidelines. Performs and monitors pharmacy services in compliance with state and federal laws including personnel and processes.

· Oversees daily pharmacy operation.

· Complete essential human resource functions associated with staff supervision and team leadership.

· Performs and monitors drug distribution procedures in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations as well as The Joint Commission, Medical Center and departmental policies, and all applicable regulatory bodies.

· Serves as the team leader to provide leadership in the delivery of pharmacy services.

· Supports educational mission through training of pharmacy residents, students, and pharmacy technician trainees and continuous professional growth.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Pharmacy degree (B.S. and/or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy required. Master's degree preferred.
