Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Pharmacist.

Seeking hospital pharmacist for a 450 bed, level 2 trauma center in Newport News, Virginia.  Riverside Regional Medical Center houses a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency program and multiple medical residencies including obstetrics and gynecology.

Works under the supervision of the Director/ Manager of Pharmacy. Supervises and performs compounding (both sterile and non-sterile) packaging and dispensing of pharmaceuticals according to prescription physician order or floor stock request in compliance with state and federal law and regulation. Review validation and patient specific assessment of medication orders. Monitors patient profiles to assure appropriate dosage and therapy. Provides current drug information. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age group of the patients served including participation in pharmacy clinical programs. Possesses the skills and ability to assess data reflective of patient status and to interpret this information and identify the patients’ needs in relation to age specific requirements and to provide care as described in accordance with state and federal law and regulation and facility policy and procedures. Supervises the work of pharmacy technicians, interns, and students. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Graduate of school of pharmacy. If a foreign graduate of pharmacy, has completed all requirements for equivalency as outlined by the National Association of Board of Pharmacy (NABP)

Licensed or eligible by the State of Virginia as a pharmacist.

Preferences:

Strongly prefer previous hospital pharmacy experience.

Prefer candidate that has completed a PGY1 residency.
