The role of the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist – Emergency Medicine is to fulfill Norton’s mission, vision, and values through providing evidence-based collaborative patient centered care in the ED during peak patient visit times. The EM specialist will ensure system wide medication formulary compliance through active engagement with providers. Core service areas of the EM specialist are medication error reduction, care of disease states associated with quality metrics including participation in emergency response, expediting ED patient throughput, antimicrobial stewardship, medication history/reconciliation of targeted patients, and facilitation of ED discharge prescriptions and patient counseling.
