Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department Pharmacist
Job Summary
The pharmacist will provide clinical coverage for the University of Mississippi Medical Center Critical Care Hospital and the Emergency Department and contribute to the optimal management of the critically ill patient.
Detailed Description
Provide clinical services which include, but are not limited to, pharmacokinetic dosing, anticoagulation management, medication profile review, renal dosing recommendations, order verification, and therapeutic recommendations. The pharmacist will also be responsible for responding to traumas, burn traumas, code blue response, code stroke response, and serve as a member on the rapid response team.
The pharmacist will be responsible for assisting in the education and training of pharmacy students, PGY-1 residents, and PGY-2 critical care residents.
In addition, they will participate in performance improvement projects, protocol development, cost improvement initiatives, committees, research, medication use evaluations, staff education, and presentations.
About the Facility
University of Mississippi Medical Center is a 700-bed tertiary care facility. It is Mississippi’s only Academic Medical Center, Level I Trauma center, Burn center, Solid-Organ Transplant center, and Bone Marrow Transplant center. It is home to a 90 - bed critical care tower and a 56 - bed emergency department, including 4 trauma bays.
Required Qualifications:
Possession of a license or eligible for licensure to practice as a pharmacist in the state of Mississippi.
Previous experience in hospital pharmacy and/or the completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 residency is required. Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY2 Residency in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine is preferred. Board certification is preferred.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center, located in Jackson, is the state's only academic health science center.
