Benefits: Leave: Residents will observe all ETSU holidays (17 in total) and are provided 5 days of paid annual leave, 5 days of administrative leave, and 5 days of sick leave, Health Insurance: Residents may elect single coverage or family coverage. Premiums are shared by the university and the resident. The premiums are payroll deducted monthly. Life Insurance: A basic $50,000 life insurance policy is available for each resident. Disability Insurance: Individual disability policies with monthly benefits of $1,000, after 90 days of disability, are available for the resident only. Deferred Compensation Program: Residents may elect, through payroll deductions, to defer portions of their pre-tax earnings into an IRS Code 457 or 401(k) tax deferred income plan.

Overview:

The East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy is seeking applicants for a PGY2 pharmacy residency in internal medicine. The residency is ASHP-accredited and has a secondary emphasis in academia, which prepares the graduate to excel as a clinical faculty member or clinical specialist with teaching (precepting and/or academic) responsibilities.

Program Description:

The successful applicant will spend a significant portion of time working with full-time internal medicine faculty members as well as with clinical specialists at Johnson City Medical Center, a teaching hospital and Level 1 trauma center affiliated with the East Tennessee State University. Residents are expected to participate in the Department of Family Medicine Transitions of Care Clinic once per week and staff at Johnson City Medical Center one weekend per month.

The successful applicant will also instruct students in didactic, active learning, and experiential settings. The resident will be mentored to independently precept pharmacy students by the end of the residency year.

Required Rotations (8 months): Orientation, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Critical Care Medicine, Cardiology, Medicine Precepting, Hospitalist Medicine

Required Longitudinal Rotations: Ambulatory Care (1 afternoon/ week), Clinical staffing

Elective Rotations (4 months): Trauma, Academia, Oncology, Pediatrics, Nutrition, Psychiatry
