The University of Tennessee Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma and Academic Medical Center for the East Tennessee Region and beyond. Our pharmacy team covers multiple specialty areas including trauma, emergency medicine, vascular surgery/transplant, general medicine, critical care medicine, oncology, nephrology, cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, and women & infants.  

This residency is a one-year specialty residency in oncology pharmacy. The resident will integrate into the multidisciplinary team in a variety of practice settings including inpatient hematology/oncology, transplantation and cellular therapy, and ambulatory oncology patient-care settings. Residents will gain a broad experience-based foundation in hematology/oncology along with experiences in practice management, investigational drug services, and ambulatory infusion services. Additionally, residents will have the opportunity to initiate or expand oncology pharmacy services, provide ACPE-accredited and other formal lectures, precept students and PGY1 residents, serve as principal investigator of an original research project, and attend professional conferences. Graduates of this program will become competent to practice independently in a variety of inpatient and ambulatory oncology practice-care settings. 

Our clinical pharmacists provide quality patient-oriented care, prospectively developing pharmaceutical plans for each patient and ensuring optimal pharmacotherapeutic outcomes. All activities are done in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations with the health and welfare of the patient paramount.  

Special Requirements for Acceptance:   Eligibility for Tennessee licensure, college transcript, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy, ASHP-accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency training, and letter of intent.  

About UT Medical Center

The University of Tennessee Medical Center is a 710-bed, acute care, teaching hospital. It serves the entire East Tennessee region, providing all general and specialty clinical services and carries a Level I trauma center designation, supported by an aeromedical helicopter program.
