Belmont University is seeking 1 pharmacy fellow to complete a two year post-graduate program in collaboration with HealthTrust Performance Group (HealthTrust) and the Division of Drug Information within the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (FDA). The goal of this program is to equip the fellow with the skills required to excel in various practice settings such as academia, drug information, medical affairs, formulary management, corporate pharmacy, and regulatory agencies.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for participating in a practice within HealthTrust that involves utilizing knowledge obtained at the FDA DDI to develop internal training materials as well as member facing resources regarding regulatory, operational, sourcing, and clinical information
Assist in the creation of supply chain mapping, educational regulatory documents, or any clinical education document to support HealthTrust clinical initiatives
Attend manufacturer site visits to evaluate manufacturing practices alongside the HealthTrust team
Teach within School of Pharmacy (i.e. assist in precepting APPE students and teach in didactic courses).
Perform all faculty functions related to the management of the Christy Houston Foundation Drug Information Center including: responding to drug information requests, and resource management.
Participate in a teaching certificate program (if eligible).
Conduct an original research project.
Precept students at Belmont University, HealthTrust and the FDA.
Other projects as assigned by the HealthTrust Clinical Director
Assist with FDA DDI projects
Answer MedWatch and DDI phone calls
Respond to DDI emails
Abide by all relevant university and/or departmental procedures and policies.

The HealthTrust experiences are structured to fully integrate fellows into the daily functions and responsibilities of the Clinical Pharmacy team by engaging with the various department teams and supporting the drug information service. This component of the fellowship program will allow fellows to expand their knowledge of a group purchasing organization, and strengthen their research, writing, presentation and drug information skills.
The Division of Drug Information (DDI) within FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research is the latest partner in this fellowship program, joining in 2022. DDI fulfills its mission by educating the public and providing timely, accurate, and useful information regarding human drug products through traditional and social media outlets. The FDA experience provides an opportunity for fellows to refine their drug information skills in a regulatory setting. Fellows will respond to drug information inquiries from patients, health care professionals, and regulated industry; create and disseminate content; and assist with high-profile initiatives based on their areas of interest and Agency need.
The Belmont experience provides fellows with the opportunity to manage the day-to-day operations of an academic based drug information center while assisting in core curriculum courses and precepting students. Additionally, the fellows will participate in a teaching certificate program and exit with a completed teaching portfolio.
The HealthTrust experience provides fellows with the opportunity to gain experience at a group purchasing organization with over 1,600 member-hospitals and over 43,000 alternate sites. The Clinical Management Fellow will be integrated into the clinical pharmacy team through engagement with the sourcing department and support of the drug information service. The Regulatory Management Fellow will focus on the development and implementation of various operational and regulatory initiatives at HealthTrust.
