Children's National is a 314 bed academic medical institution in the heart of our Nation's Capital. We serve patients from both far and near including a large international patient population. The pharmacy department is composed of approximately 170 individuals, and we are looking for a forward-thinking, creative, and passionate pharmacist to join the Ambulatory team.
This is a full-time, exempt position for a clinical pharmacy specialist in the Children's department of pharmacy. This role will report to the Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Manager and aid in expanding the clinical ambulatory pharmacy program. This role will practice in several clinic spaces, be expected to become credentialed as well as participate in collaborative practice, and help us launch an Ambulatory PGY2 program in the coming years. This role will assist with outpatient non-formulary approvals as well as formulary additions.
Ambulatory Overview: Clinics and Regional Outpatient Centers in VA, MD, and DC; current pharmacy coverage in Diabetes/Endocrine, SOT, Oncology, and Hematology; Transitions of Care team, Medication History Team; multiple specialty clinics with pharmacy opportunity; support for pharmacy-run clinic development as well

The Division of Pharmacy Services provides twenty-four hour centralized and decentralized operations.
The department provides the following comprehensive services:
-Intravenous and parenteral nutrition admixtures
-Extensive product formulation and compounding
The Pharmacy utilizes the latest in technology to assist with dispensing.
-Medi-Dose®, makes standardized labels for unit dosing bulk medications
-ABACUS®, TPN physician order entry system that eliminates paper orders for TPNs
-Pyxis®, automated dispensing cabinets to assist with the inventory and storage of medications. These machines are located on every unit in the hospital as well as the OR and the regional outpatient centers.
-DoseEdge® is utilized to capture pictures of the preparation process of IVs and orals within our institution. This also helps us track where the products are throughout the system.
-Cerner®, computerized prescriber order entry with pharmacist order verification.
