This position also includes a travel stipend for local, regional, and/or national pharmacy meetings, 24 days of paid personal days, medical, dental and life insurance, and monetary support to complete an ASHP certificate program.

The Fairview Pharmacy Services (FPS) PGY2 Medication-Use Safety and Policy Residency is a 12-month program that advances the resident’s skills in medication safety, drug formulary management, revenue management, medication-use policy, drug information, regulatory compliance, problem-solving, and metrics/data analysis within an academic health-system, M Heath Fairview (MHFV). The program is designed to prepare the resident to practice in a variety of roles related to medication-use safety and policy at various practice sites including health-systems, ambulatory pharmacy, academia, industry, population health, or managed care. Residents will receive comprehensive training in medication safety science, medication utilization evaluation, drug formulary management, medication policy, data analytics and informatics, medication shortage management, research, project management, and scholarly writing.
FPS is a comprehensive provider of pharmacy services in Minnesota, including hospital services, 30+ community pharmacies, and nationally recognized specialty pharmacy and home infusion programs. FPS and MHFV promote the safe, effective, and fiscally responsible use of medications across the enterprise via the System Pharmacy Operations Center (SPOC). The PGY2 Medication-Use Safety and Policy resident is an integral part of the SPOC and will assist in driving many of its medication-use initiatives and policies across the organization, including: • Analysis of medication occurrence reports and adverse drug events • Prospective assessment of risk points in the medication-use process • Promotion of a culture of safety across the health-system • Integration of evidence-based medicine into health-system practice • Health-system formulary management and cost savings initiatives • Development and implementation of medication-use policy and procedures • Smart pump libraries and analytics • Regulatory compliance • Optimization of medication-use practice resources
Candidate Qualifications: • Doctor of Pharmacy degree • Minnesota pharmacist licensure eligible • Graduate of an ACPE program or FPGEC certificate • Completion of an ASHP- accredited PGY1 program
