U.S. Medical Affairs, Medical Payer Strategy (Cross-Therapeutic)
Medical Payer Strategy is a team housed within the Value and Access arm of U.S. Medical Affairs. Our team consists of health care professionals (predominantly PharmDs and PhDs) who have a strategic mindset and are therapeutic area experts in addition to having an extensive knowledge of the U.S. health care system. The main function of the Medical Payer Strategy team is to ensure that every patient has access to the life-changing and/or life-saving medications that are currently available. We collaborate with many cross-functional partners to set the field medical team’s strategy, create necessary resources, lead disease state and product training, and generate real world evidence. Medical Payer Strategy is the perfect place for someone who is interested in the complexities of the U.S. health care system, has strong clinical and communication skills, and is passionate about patient care.
In the past, U.S. Medical Affairs – Medical Payer Strategy fellows had the opportunity to:
Receive training on and apply understanding of HCDMs to optimize patient access to AbbVie products.
Contribute to the launch preparation of new products/indications.
Lead various projects that help internal and external stakeholders better understand the payer landscape and payer relations.
Partner with cross-functional teams to develop strategy on pipeline and on-market assets to gain understanding of product life-cycle.
Travel for congresses, national meetings, and field immersion experiences with MOSLs.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Medical Directors, Medical Outcome Science Liaisons (MOSLs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and Market Access.
