Drug Delivery Sciences
AbbVie's Drug Delivery Sciences Department, located in Irvine, CA and part of Development Sciences, has established top-tier drug delivery capabilities (e.g., bioerodible sustained release, delivery devices) to support a diverse portfolio of small molecules and biologics. The one-year Drug Delivery Sciences fellowship focuses on the design and development of innovative drug delivery systems and related technologies, including new approaches and adaptations of existing systems. This fellowship aims to provide postdoctoral researchers with exposure to R&D in the pharmaceutical industry, while fostering their scientific and professional development. The fellow will also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across various departments and disciplines within R&D.
In the past, Drug Delivery Sciences fellows have had the opportunity to:
Play a key role in advancing AbbVie's scientific capabilities in one or more areas of drug delivery.
Participate in various projects that foster internal and external collaborations.
Collaborate with scientists both within and outside the department to design and evaluate drug delivery systems, helping to create new products that address unmet medical needs.
Contribute to experiments on early-stage development of innovative sustained drug delivery products and assist in identifying new drug candidates.
Attend internal meetings, congresses, national meetings, and participate in field immersion experiences with MOSLs.
Publish research findings and share them both internally and externally.
Please be advised to apply for this fellowship, candidates must hold:
PhD. in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, polymer chemistry, colloidal chemistry, physical chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, or a related field.
Expertise in drug delivery-related areas such as formulation, physical and chemical characterization, drug targeting, and relevant biology, or medical devices is highly desirable.
Strong oral and written communication skills, professionalism, leadership, and a keen interest in the biopharmaceutical industry are also essential.
