AdventHealth Orlando is currently seeking an ambitious and committed individual for the 2025-2027 PGY1/2 Medication Use Safety and Policy (MUSP) Residency.
The first year of this PGY1/2 program aims for the resident to develop a strong clinical foundation with various opportunities to engage in medication safety experiences. The second year focuses on the medication use safety and policy aspect of this residency. The resident also has the opportunity to complete a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA)/Master of Business Administration (MBA) during the 2-year residency.
The primary goal of the Medication Use Safety and Policy program is to develop residents into independent practitioners and confident pharmacy leaders who possess strong in-depth therapeutic knowledge and integrated professional attributes. The resident’s experiences are tailored to meet his/her individual goals and expectations.
During the PGY-2 year, the resident works collaboratively with the senior management group, leads process improvement projects, provides patient care in collaborative practice settings, and works as a member of medical staff committees to develop advanced leadership skills. The longitudinal structure of projects develops competence in leadership and practice management responsibilities. The resident will also complete the ASHP/ISMP Medication Safety Certificate.
Rotations are offered in a variety of areas and may be tailored to the interests of the individual resident. Core PGY-2 rotations include: Medication Safety I (hospital level); Medication Safety II (health system level); Formulary Management; Drug Information; Medication Use Policy & Accreditation I and II; Clinical Informatics; and Pharmacy Administration & Management. Elective rotations are offered in a variety of other settings to develop independent practice skills. Program activities include: a research project suitable for publication and presentation at a professional meeting, medication use evaluation, and order set or policy development, and a Florida Board of Pharmacy Approved 2-hour Medication Error CE presentation. Additional program goals include development of skills in clinical and didactic teaching, knowledge of clinical research methodology, and confidence in professional leadership.

Special Requirements for Acceptance: Complete PhORCAS application; 3 references utilizing standard form in PhORCAS with narrative comment section completed or supplemental letter of recommendation; eligibility for licensure in Florida. Program does not sponsor H1B Visas.
