Mission Statement
Providence St. Peter Family Medicine pharmacy residency is committed to excellence in patient-centered care and advancement of pharmacy practice.

Purpose Statement
The purpose of Providence St. Peter Family Medicine Residency program is to train pharmacists who specialize in provision of primary care services within an interdisciplinary team while advancing patient-centered care through quality improvement, practice based leadership, and education of the health care team.

This residency prepares pharmacists to pursue a career as an ambulatory care pharmacist in roles where initiation and expansion of services are needed, and pharmacy leadership and education are desired.

Family Medicine
The resident has direct patient care responsibilities with a focus on continuity of care. Pharmacists practice under a robust collaborative practice agreement that allows for independent clinical decision making. Residents maintain an individual patient schedule and establish their own patient panel. Pharmacists are highly integrated into the Patient Centered Medical Home resulting in an interdisciplinary standard of care.

Education
Teaching skills are fostered across the continuum of education.  Experiences range from one-on-one preceptorships to large group didactics. Residents have the opportunity to teach pharmacy students and residents, medical residents, nurse practitioner students, physician assistant students and other members of the health care team. When elective opportunities are utilized this program can prepare a resident for a career in academia and a robust teaching portfolio.

Leadership & Practice Management
The goal of these learning experiences is to provide residents with the skills for proposal preparation, problem solving, design and implementation of clinical services as well as clinic leadership. Residents are exposed to practice management with learning outcomes related to billing for pharmacy services, financial assessment, legal aspects of clinical pharmacy and clinic operations. Each resident implements a quality improvement project for service enhancement and leads a population health initiative.

Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the state of Washington. Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ASHP Accredited PGY1 pharmacy residents or PGY1 exempt per ASHP standards.
