The PGY2 Informatics Pharmacy Residency at UW Health is an ASHP-accredited post-graduate program, which provides 12 months of training. It is designed to provide training in clinical informatics and the management of medication-use systems and technology. The focus of the residency is to equip the resident with the relevant knowledge and concepts of information technology to enable them to function as a leader and pioneer in pharmacy informatics.

The resident will have the opportunity to complete a wide variety of rotations and projects tailored to their past experiences and interests. The resident trains with the support of UW Health’s dedicated pharmacy informatics team and will help maximize the department’s state and national contributions in informatics to improve patient care. Residents work closely with operational and clinical pharmacy teams and other informatics professionals. Residents will provide lectures and coordinate classes at the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy. With our proximity to a major EHR vendor, there are also unique opportunities for the resident to gain industry experience through certification and elective on-site rotations.

The resident will be well-positioned to accept an advanced position as an informatics pharmacist or become a member of the pharmacy leadership team supporting information technology.
