The IV Compounding Coordinator will lead all compliance and training efforts across Temple Health. Responsible for compliance, policy and procedure development and for ensuring that all staff are trained appropriately. Develops, implements and sustains all relevant policies/procedures around compounding. In conjunction with the local leader, represents and serves as a subject matter expert on IV compounding.
Responsible for ensuring all compounding rooms, devices, supplies, and personnel are compliant with USP Chapter <795>, Chapter <797> and USP Chapter <800> regulations as well as any applicable state Board of Pharmacy regulations, TJC, and CMS; responsible for enforcement of current and future chapters around sterile compounding
Responsible for routine environmental sampling of all devices and rooms and certifications are completed; coordinates semi-annual recertification with an outside entity
Conducts and ensures completion of new & existing employee training and supervises annual written and didactic competency testing with all employees who engage in sterile or non-sterile compounding
Completes compliance audits monthly, quarterly, annually and as needed; conducts ad hoc visits at each location
Ensures safety and accuracy of all processes around compounding
Ensures that IV compounding of Investigational Drug Services, in conjunction with the IDS team, as appropriate
Reviews, maintains and approves all master formulation compounding records
Serves as a subject matter expert and is able to serve as a liaison for regulatory bodies
Manages EMR records that speak to IV compounding (i.e., build of master formula records)
Serves as a liaison to regulatory bodies for all USP issues
Responsible for real time development of Action Plans based on testing results
Responsible for maintaining and updating TUHS policies on an ongoing basis for all USP chapters
Bachelors Degree : College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (Required) or Doctorate Degree : PharmD (Preferred)
