Overview
The Courier at our community pharmacy plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of prescription medications, medical supplies, and over-the-counter products to customers. The position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines.
Responsibilities
Safe and Timely Delivery: Pick up and deliver prescription medications, pharmacy supplies, and other products to customers' homes or designated locations while adhering to safety and privacy standards.
Customer Service: Interact professionally and courteously with customers, answering any questions regarding their deliveries and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed logs of deliveries, including recipient information and time of delivery. Ensure accurate handling and delivery of prescriptions, complying with all regulations and internal procedures.
Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure the delivery vehicle is in good working condition, including performing routine checks (e.g., fuel levels, tire pressure, cleanliness).
Adherence to Safety and Privacy Standards: Follow all safety guidelines and maintain confidentiality of customers’ sensitive medical information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with Pharmacy Staff: Coordinate with pharmacy staff to manage delivery schedules, pick-up times, and ensure proper packaging and labeling of products.
Efficient Route Planning: Optimize delivery routes to ensure timely deliveries and reduce fuel consumption and time on the road.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a delivery or courier role is preferred.
Competencies Skills
Familiarity with local area roads and neighborhoods.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to handle and transport fragile or sensitive items with care.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
Knowledge of HIPAA and other privacy regulations (preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided).
Ability to lift and carry packages up to [insert weight, e.g., 25 lbs].
