Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, the Drug Diversion Prevention Technician will provide leadership, oversight and coordination of activities related to diversion prevention monitoring procedures and practices. The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician will be responsible for maintenance of a comprehensive controlled substance surveillance program based on regulatory body requirements including, but not limited to Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and best practice. The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician will also help create and execute a comprehensive auditing program for controlled substances. The position requires extensive contact with administration, the nursing department and hospital staff. The Drug Diversion Prevention Technician participates in standards of practice, ensure quality and patient safety regarding medication management and process improvement activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent REQUIRED
Required Licenses
Current Certified Pharmacy Technician licenses in the state of Alabama
Minimum Work Experience:
Three (3) years hospital pharmacy experience REQUIRED
Required skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be ensure continuity of care and appropriateness of Pharmacy coverage to the patients of Vaughan Regional Medical Center on all units.
